To support our ability to meet the growing demand, Tyson is expanding our case ready production facilities

Our case ready plant

��̳ plans to invest about $300 million to build a case ready beef and pork plant in Eagle Mountain, Utah. The plant is slated to open as soon as 2021, with a projected annual local payroll of $44 million. The facility is expected to employ 800 workers to start and could expand to 1,200 positions within three years. The new plant will be a meat-cutting and packaging operation that will take large cuts of beef and pork and convert them into steaks, chops, roasts and ground meat to be packaged, weighed and labeled on retail trays that are shipped and sold in grocery stores.

After several years of research and planning, we’re pleased to report that Tyson Fresh Meats in May announced plans to build a new case ready meats plant in Utah. The plant will be our fourth case ready location, adding to our current plants in Sherman, Texas; Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

Community Action

��̳ recently donated 35,000 pounds of protein to the Community Action Services and Food Bank as part of its commitment to hunger relief in the communities where it operates. Tyson recently broke ground in Eagle Mountain where the company is building a new case ready beef and pork plant. The facility is expected to begin operations in 2021 and will initially employ more than 800 team members.

Where will the plant be located?

We are located at 3817 N. Tyson Parkway, Eagle Mountain, UT 84005.

Will there be a smell or odor associated with the facility?

No, there will not be an odor or smell, and there will be no harvesting of livestock at our Eagle Mountain facility. This operation and segment of our business is commonly referred to as “case ready”. In this production format, we further process larger pieces of meat, called sub-primals, and simply slice, package and ship to customers. Other than inbound and outbound refrigerated trucks, this plant will look, smell and appear like any other manufacturing facility.

Will there be an impact to water pressure?

No, the majority of our water usage occurs during the sanitation process, typically reserved for our 3rd shift when most residents of Eagle Mountain will be sleeping. In fact, water pressure for residents may improve, as the city and developers will be installing a new pump station to accommodate our new facility.

How will this impact infrastructure? Will there be new roads as a result of the project?

Yes, there will be new roads associated with this project, but ones that were always planned with the development of Pole Canyon industrial park.

Our project will be supported by improved infrastructure that benefits the community in a safe and efficient manner.

How will you address light pollution? We don’t want to lose our view of the stars.

Tyson will be adhering to Eagle Mountain municipal and industrial standards, where we will direct light downwards. This will limit the presence of light pollution, and keep those clear nights as pretty and natural as possible!

How will you mitigate water use?

Part of Tyson’s core values aim to serve as stewards of the animals, land and environment entrusted to us. Water conservation, recycling and reclamation strategies are consistently being monitored, implemented and improved where possible.
